Personal Childhood Web
Voncile Wilborn – my beloved mother whom instilled so much in me from birth until 1996 when she went home to rest. She would always say get all the education you can because once you get it, it’s yours and no one can take it away from you. Franklin Wilborn- my father which he was and still is the hard rock of my family. My father has been my rock and he believed and still believes in me. He always tell me that I can do it just don’t give up. Two of my elementary and junior high school teachers Vera Ramsey (Jr. High) and Naomi Cook (Elementary) both were very hard on me and they both spoke the same knowledge to me. It was always don’t stop you have the potential to do what you set your mind to. The believed that one day I would make a difference just as they made a difference in my life. I wish these two wonderful people were still around I know they would be very proud of the hard work they did molding such an educated young woman. The last two people was my pastor and a dear member of my church Dr. Raymond Cochran and Elmira Parker, these two did a great deal of praying for me when I thought I wasn’t going to make it and almost gave up after the birth f my three children. Being a single parent being in school was the last thing I wanted to do but with the praying and counseling I made it through and these two individuals were my rock. Each of these individuals holds a special place in my heart and from their nurturing I know I had a bigger place in their hearts.
The long talks and prayers have led me to where I am today. I think back on what my mom use to say go get it and when you get it all of it belongs to you. My mentors would tell me to go get it and never settle for little think big and strive big and make a difference, leave a positive mark so that one day you can look back and say I had a great part in that great creation.
Brenda, your childhood web is full of support, encouragement and positive religious-inspired messages. How wonderful to have been influenced by your parents, educators and the members of your church. I hope that you are passing along these messages to your children and the children you teach.
